Troubleshooting Your Driveway Gate
11/17/2013 Back To BlogIf you are one of the many homeowners in Redondo Beach that has a driveway gate, there may come a time when the convenience of your unit fails you. It will be a hindrance and will cause some grief. What you will need is an exercise in driveway gate troubleshooting. Here are a few things you can check to restore its use.
Check Your Remote
The first thing you might want to check is the driveway gate opener. Your system will more than likely have a remote opener. If the control does not open or close the doors, you may have a problem. Check the batteries first. Your problem may be as simple as that.
Look For Impediments
Maybe you have a swinging steel gate that, for some reason will not open fully. You should check the ground around where the door stops. It may be a rock or tree stump or other impediment that is preventing the opening or closing process from completing. Simply remove the obstruction and try to open and close your unit once again.
Doors Are Stuck
If you have a swinging model, it is possible that the doors may get stuck. Check the swing gate hinges. Depending on their age, maybe they have broken or are failing. They could, depending on what they are made of, be rusted and preventing the doors from opening and closing.
Sensors Are Not Working
Your system will come equipped with some safety measures. You may have a sliding gate safety sensor which, when a vehicle or person passes through it, will automatically reverse the opening or closing process. That way, you protect yourself, your family, and your vehicles from getting hit by a swinging gate door. If your sensors are not working, make sure to have them repaired quickly so that no one gets hurt and nothing gets damaged.
